"When you get those rare moments of clarity, those flashes when the universe makes sense, you try desperately to hold on to them. They are the life boats for the darker times, when the vastness of it all, the incomprehensible nature of life is completely illusive. So the question becomes, or should have been all a long... What would you do if you knew you only had one day, or one week, or one month to live. What life boat would you grab on to? What secret would you tell? What band would you see? What person would you declare your love to? What wish would you fulfill? What exotic locale would you fly to for coffee? What book would you write?"

Bubbles on a Beautiful Day

Hey all!

So, lately....life has been good. I've been around family I haven't seen in quite awhile that live a good full day's drive away, I have been blessed with beautiful weather, my baby sister just topped off  phenomenal performances (6 performances!) of Hairspray, as the lead- Tracy, I am unpacking my college-life and adding it to my home life (this is HARD), and re-packing for Europe (Also Hard), I've been hanging out with the best people in the world, I've been doing a LOT of thinking, a lot of reading, and a lot of listening to good music.....but most importantly, I've been blowing lots of bubbles in the sun :-)

Believe it or not, blowing bubbles is extremely de-stressing and I promise it works just as well as Prozac. Go try it if you're feeling under the weather. Bubbles make everyone happy. Its like, a given. I think it even says it on the bottle.

So, this is a picture post today. Lots and lots of pictures. This is also a new app that I downloaded a long time ago and used it once and I was like, "what the heck is this? I don't get it. This is stupid." And I didnt use it for a couple months. Then, I tried it randomly one day and loved the way the pics came out. Now I can't stop using it. Its called "Hipstamatic" for those of you who own/love your iphone and photography. :-)

Unfortunately, I don't think the camera could pick up any of the bubbles, considering it was a struggle to jug the task of blowing lots of bubbles for them to go catch and then taking pictures with my other hand. But use your imagination; I promise bubbles actually existed.

Cute bubble blowing gadget.

Watching the bubbles.

"Can I give a bubble to my doggie?"

"Can we play with the hose?"......"No."

This has my finger in the top which angers me but the rest of the picture is just TOO CUTE to exclude- They thought it wise to try and break into their parents side of the house. I just sat back and watched, and um...supervised. Cute picture though. :-)

"THere is a PERSON that LOOKS LIKE ME in there!"

"Swinging" all by herself. This is a huge milestone.

Curious.
I promise she's not dead. She was looking at a bug. For a good twenty minutes. She definitely does not have ADHD, like me.

I tried so hard to get a picture of her showing her face, but it was really hard. She's the most adorable girl and yet moves every time she see's the camera.

Sort of got one. She saw a bird.

playing...

Swinging with the flip-flop shot :-)

Being Adventurous

"Snowboarding?"

I LOVE this picture. It was the cutest thing. We were outside for a good two hours and when we first came outside, the boy saw the crescent of the moon. He says, "Hey look, the moon is out and the sun at the same time! How did the moon come out!?" So I gave them a mini-science lesson on the sun and the moon and how they sort of work and they looked at me like it was just too much to believe, and I LOVE that. And then about two hours later, as seen in this picture, the little girl looked up and exclaimed, "The moon MOVED!" And then proceeded to stare at it continuously to see if it would keep moving. So I then gave another mini-lesson on how the moon and stars and sun move during the night and day and it was the cutest and coolest thing ever. Just to see their minds process this new interesting information is something you can never forget. Love it.
Let me remind you these are not my children, these are the lovebugs I babysit often. I could only hope my children one day in the future could only be this adorable!

Thanks for reading, earthlings!!

Rainy Days, Flooding and Painting

Picture of the week time ! I didn't forget :)  Except, I have two installments. One set of pictures today, and a special version for next week that is similar but much cooler. Instead of POTW- ITs more like "Picture Album of the week" because I have so many. But its like buying someone a gift. Its SO HARD not to give it to them when you already have it for them and its SO GOOD and you CANT WAIT to see if they will like it. Well, I recently took all these photos at once and I don't think I can give you one at a time over a span of one-a-week because I would go crazy. Maybe this should be a common occurrence and this could be "Picture of the month" ? Hmm. Well, enjoy. :)

This was taken when my father and I took a drive down to the Delaware river on the most recent 2011 flood, and...
...And it was interesting and all, but not very photogenic. I know photogenic when I see it, immediately. And then this dog just appeared, came up to us and we pet(ted?) it for a little, and then it went to where it is in picture....and suddenly it became photogenic.

Same doggie, same day, different picture

This picture is *not taken by me* but taken from my twin separated at birth (but not really-just psychologically), Mellie, and I fell in love with it. I fall in love with a lot of her pictures, usually of her girls (shown in picture). I'm not even sure if she knows/believes how good of a photographer she actually is or could be if she really wanted to.
But anyway, I saw the picture and fell in love, asked for permission to picture, and revamped the special effects, and thats why it is here today. But it was never taken by me.

This was one of those pictures that you don't even have to set up....you just see it, and you snap the picture...even though it looks like I totally set that there.

This was taken at a friends house I visited over this winter and I was immediately drawn to her paint set- and it was just gorgeous and lovely and especially with the tone I put on the picture in the effects dept. , it screams "Sad, lonely painting day with music on while it rains-pours- outside your window" type of day. LOVE.

Another picture of her paintset. LOVE.

Paintbrushes in the windowsill
So...As for an update on my life today....since yesterday....I babysat all day today. I could write a whole other blog on that....Basically, toddlers are SO HARD to work with/please. They require so much patience. And then I think to myself, Gee- If they are causing me this much anguish- How come I still really, really, really want to have kids one day? And my answer in my head was this- A lot of the anguish that arises while working with these kids comes from having to please the parent too. 1) everything is done in the parents/kids environment.  2) I can NEVER find anything, and its usually something the toddlers are screaming for 3)things are just done differently there 4) Its second nature for me to always have the kids back to the parents in the same condition or better than when I got them in the morning. In addition to the condition of the house. I always clean. I always sanitize everything. (I'm becoming OCD). I get the kids dressed and do their hair, feed them two meals, etc. But when we do activities  like painting or playdough, I am constantly stressed because I don't know "the rules". WHats allowed to get dirty? Can their clothes get dirty? How important is this table to you? Do you want me to put protective paper down? Is this paint even washable? Whereas if I were the parent and will be someday, I would first buy washable everything and then get them into painting clothes and say GO FOR IT. But this isn't that type of household...So, Its hard making up your own rules as you go along and making sure they fit into the households rules too. Its a long day! But, as hard as they can be at times, they are Truly adorable and surprise me every day with how smart they are or how kind they are. I do look forward to seeing them =]

THats all for today.....Off to the hospital to work tomorrow, Maybe I'll get a good blog entry from there?

Too-ta-loo...

Picture of the Week

Yay! It's Friday and I have a picture to share with you!

This picture is extra special.

This is the adorable and loveable girl I babysit every once and awhile. This picture is unique because It was taken over this past summer, with my blackberry- before my iPhone even existed. Still pretty good though, eh? I am hesitant to put my photography company name on it because although it was taken with my phone and by me, the editing was done by a very good friend of mine that had an iPhone4 at the time. Unfortunately for him, I was in the very happy habit of sending him a lot of my pics so he could magically transform them into beautiful pieces of artwork such as the one above, even though he was usually busy at work. If that all doesn't make this picture special enough, I asked him a couple weeks ago if he still saved any of those pictures he fixed up for me, and this was the only one that had survived his phone resetting. And it happened to be my favorite one, and just the one I was thinking about when I asked him. So YAY! So I love this picture, and although my name is on it, it is not just my creation. Taken with a blackberry and edited with an iPhone, now thats a bird and a fish creation! Thank you :)

Not much else to say today. Vote on my poll, guys, I need your opinions! (Right hand side of this page). I still feel sad for Japan, I will continue to keep them in my thoughts.

Picture of the Week

Hello Folks- This may or may not be considered my "real" post for the day, but I've missed Picture of the Week a couple weeks now, and I've had this picture waiting to be selected for this amazing honor of mine (lol), so, here it is.

This is on my campus and I saw it on a horrible, dreary rainy day. I was having a bad morning, and going to class was the last thing I wanted to do, but off I was to class. I saw this on the tree and I looked past it. THen I double glanced it, backtraced my steps, and stared at it. It was so pretty!! Someone mysterious actually took the time to knit that around the tree! It gives me hope that there are wonderful people out there. And then after I was done taking the picture, a lady walked past me and smiled at me as if she were the one that knitted it. It was a funny moment. But that little knit thing on the tree totally made my day.   An "unexpected delight" as my good friend, Jess, would put it- Visit her blog full of unexpected delights at : 365 days of Unexpected Delights

Picture of the Week (On time!)

YAY ITS TIME FOR THE PICTURE OF THE WEEK! Be excited, be excited beeeee exxxcccitteed!

Okay. I apologize. I had a headache all night and this morning so from my meekly little bed I texted my dad, and I was like "Please get me excedrin? I am dying. I really am. And an icepack? I love youuuu." So I took 3 excedrin and DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH CAFFEINE THEY HAVE?

A_LOT! a boatload.

So excuse my minor hyperness.

OKAY. Picture time!

Okay So I took this picture about a month ago. At my school. It was kind of our first snow fall, back when snow and I were still friends. It was frigid and therefore I was unhappy but when I turned the corner to go to the dining hall, I saw this beautiful assortment of snow and colors. I first snapped a picture for my dad, the weatherman, to brag about the fact that we got snow and home didnt, but then I realized that it was a pretty picture and I was all like, "I'm going to make this picture of the week".. And here it is. A lovely picture.

Okay the following has absolutely nothing to do with picture of the week but I don't want to make it a new blog post so I'm adding it to this one. As you all know, (probably) by now, is that I am oddly obsessed with dreams. I have this fantastic and hilarious dream interpretation book and you can pretty much look up anything you want in it that you dreamed about and it will tell you what that means. One time, (this is real life. not a dream), when my family and I were on vacation in New Hampshire, we stopped at this Mom & Pop type diner to get coffee and food and fuel up so we could keep driving or sightseeing or whatever we were doing. At the time, I was even more obsessed than usual with dreams because I had just gotten the dream book so I literally looked up everything. I even made charts, analyzing my 12 year old dreams. So I'm all like "Look everyone I can look up your dream" even though no one in my family cared. But, the waitress at the time, cared. She sat down next to us and was all like, "CAN YOU INTERPRET MY DREAM, PLEASE?" I forget the dream now but it had something to do with fixing a tooth. It wasn't in my book and I was all like, "I'm sorry." My family quickly finished their coffee and we booked it real fast out of there. End of story. Sorry for the anticlimactic ending. I just realized the memory seemed funnier and more dramatic in my head.

Point of story, last night I had a dream that my old dance teacher, who I'm pretty sure is also a Nazi, or a warrior of some kind, or an ex-militant executive, or Satan perhaps, was attacking me with a wooden stick, in my basement. In her dance leotard. How messed up is that? Needless to say, since it was my basement and I knew a secret way out, I tricked her and took the secret way and was totally like, "there is no way she just saw me do that and there is no way she would think to go up the normal staircase and end up in the same place as me and attack me again, because this is my dream and I am escaping." I also had a dream that I travelled to London and it was awesome. like, even awesomer than I ever would have expected. And it was totally not raining. It was gorgeous. Even though I would still think London was the best place on Earth (do you need to capitalize earth?) even if it rained every day. Which, I've heard, that it does. Back to point...This is my dream interpretation:

ATTACK:
Being attacked and not harmed: Will soon have good fortune. (woot!)
ESCAPE:
Escaping from accident or injury: Good things will come in life.

I think these results are pretty consistent with the message that 2011 will be AWESOME!

I also had a dream (this was all last night, I kid you not) that I was fixing a toilet on stage and everyone was watching and it was very stressful. But fixing toilets were not in the book. Unfortunately. But if it was, I'm pretty sure it would also say 2011 will be awesome.

IF you want me to interpret your dream for you, I totally will. Just comment with some keywords in your dream. Or type the whole thing out. I don't care. The weirder they are, the better. I would never judge. I just got attacked by my old dance teacher. With a stick. Beat that!

I'm sorry the second half of this had nothing to do with picture of the week. my bad. Its the hyperness. :-)

Picture of the Week

A little late again, but I'd rather wait for an awesome picture that comes Sunday or whenever, than find an iffy one on Friday. :-) So this one I took today, because I these two made me smile so much. They sat at the table next to me in Barnes and Noble and this was the best dad ever. I aged him to be pretty young (20-25) and the little boy in the chair is approximately 3. Well, this dad was so devoted. I first saw them making laps around the store, the dad following the little boy around making conversation, as they passed me I heard from the dad, "It's just like a maze, Isn't it??" (commenting on the store layout)...and he had the sippy cup in hand, ready to go, and multiple children's books in hand. Later is when I realized that the same two had sat down next to me. Obviously within ear shot, I was able to hear the lovely sound of this dad reading 8 ( I kid you not!) Thomas the Tank Engine books. The boy was paying close attention, and was making remarks and asking questions. The dad was like, genuinely interested and cared. It was so adorable to watch. I know one too many parents that would find a stack of children's books and sit them down to read by them selves so that the parent can do his own thing. But anyway, here is the picture:

I made it so that you couldn't see either of their faces and therefore they are unrecognizeable and it is OK to put on the internet! Right? Lol. o_O

Not much to say recently...(blogwise)...life has been rather unexclamatory (new word?). And I'd rather not bore you with minor and silly things just for the sake of writing a daily blog entry. And, finals are coming (blech) this week, so I may not have much to say at all this week. Or maybe I'll procrastinate and i'll coincidentally have a LOT to say, who knows? ;)
So hopefully new, interesting, topics will come to mind soon...otherwise, happy reading and have a nice evening :)

Totally Forgot Picture of the Week

Picture of the week! Oops. I always forget it's Friday. Anyway, this weeks picture of the week is a picture I took from my dorm room, (through the window screen so bear with me).

This picture makes me happy because these deer come to visit nearly every day. We have a locked gated fenced in area behind my townhouse complex so I'm pretty sure that the deer just live in this 1/8th mile radius. Anyway, the same 2-4 deer always come to visit and even though I do live in Jersey, and deer are as common as an alligator in Florida (deer are very common here if you didn't get that analogy), and I have grown up with deer constantly around me, I still find happiness going to my window and watching them eat, or walk around...or whatever. Sorry for that run-on sentence.

So I took a picture to document evidence, and it ended up turning out quite awesomely artistically (I'm just full of grammar mistakes today). I like to make up words.

so here it is:

The deer are sort of camouflage, but that makes it cool.

Happy :) Just pretend that this post occurred on Friday.

Picture of the week

Tonight, was pretty awesome because we played scrabble, yahtzee, and Are you smarter than a 5th grader? (I'm not).

So this picture represents happiness. Good times with family, tea, and board games.

Funny moment of the day? Mom has a cold and has been making echinacea tea. I've been making laxative tea(read old blogs for why I'm doing that) and today mom accidentally drank mine.

You can guess what entailed thereafter.

I guess you had to be there. :-)

Picture of the week

Today was most certainly not the best day on my planet. I've had worse, I've had better. o_o

But, alas, for the picture of the week...

It was a tie up between this one and about two others...maybe I'll post those two as well later on.

Well I had a horrible day and now, bed time. Thank goodness. I really do not enjoy Fridays.

Picture of the week

I TOTALLY forgot last Friday to putty picture of the week. So I'm have to find another cool thing this Friday to put up!! I promise. :-)

It's a cool picture. It was taken through a play tunnel and that is his mean "what are you Doing in my tunnel" face. I was scared.

And, as always, taken from my iPhone! Buy one! There. I advertised.

Picture of the week

I had many picture candidates this week for my weekly picture of the week (Fridays!). I try and put one up that I took since the last picture posting, but not this week. In fact I didn't take this one at all. But, I did edit this. This is two very good friends of mine and the picture was actually taken a couple years ago, before I had met either of them. I fell in love with the picture the minute I saw it. So I tweaked it a bit, and now it's the opening picture to my iPhone even. Yay :-)
